February Half Term at the Science and Industry Museum Manchester

This February half term, NAME in collaboration with the Photon Science Institute at the University of Manchester set up stall in the main hall of the museum to welcome the guest and get interactive in science through their theme of play. Volunteers brought to life materials and light through our classic ion implantation demo- ion smash, our Lego AFM with microscopes as well as our light to sound demo, where guests were invited to transmit their own voice across the table through a flickering light! The engagement continued with our volunteers also being involved with Q&As throughout the day, with interesting questions such as “how do we bring play into our work?” and “what’s the smallest thing I have made?” (as well as the normal how much do you make!). Everyone left with smiles, and with over 1500 people engaged with over three days, our volunteers have a well-earned rest until British Science Week.
