Great Exhibition Road Festival

Imperial researchers participated in the Great Exhibition Road Festival on the 17th and 18th of June 2023. The Festival is a celebration of science and the arts led by Imperial College London and had an estimated 50,000 attendees. Researchers from the Department of Materials presented their research on nanoscale engineering in the Festival’s Smart Machines Zone. Their interactive demonstration included an introduction to the atom scale engineering achieved using the P-NAME ion implantation tool and a discussion of how small scale changes can dramatically alter material properties. The Shoebox Maser was exhibited as an example of how nanoscale engineering can find practical applications in healthcare and quantum technology.

Participants: Wern Ng, Daan Arroo, Yongqiang Wen, Ryan Bower, Louis Chen, Max Attwood, Yuanyuan Yin, Songjie Yang, Freya Johnson, Sami Ramadan, Connor Wright, Huw Shiel, Felix Xu
